I've been a member since 05 and have learned so much in the legislative end. I never would have gotten involved with city politics until joining this group, in my city Raytown, we have made a difference, we are well respected and we are considered a source for Raytown residents to go to when issues arrive. I have had the honor of working with Aldermen and Mayors though the years, and they since have become close friends. You will never met a group of people that are dedicated to the cause of saving our furbabies. KCDA just rocks.

KCDA really has the know how. bringing prestige, respect, reason and logic up against the usual arrogance and ignorance that has been the dominant force in public animal issues politics.

We will succeed in creating a No-Kill Community in the KC Metro if we all band together and demand it!

This is an awesome group of hard working people with a clearly defined agenda of advocacy for unconditional love. Thats' what every dog is capable of if only given the chance. It doesn't matter who the person is or what breed of dog, I think each member of this group knows the connection a dog can make in a person's life. That is what makes this group so strong.

Perhaps it would be beneficial to have us wear stick on name tags (1st name only) and associated group (i.e. pit bull rescue, NMHP, etc)

I appreciated knowing about the proposed BSL agenda item and will do my best to attend future council meetings in Gladstone when BSL is being discussed.

Actually, from a group standpoint, this was nice. People are starting to recognize faces and there was a little more open interaction with the newbies. Still waiting for the hazing.

  •  I was hoping this group would cover other political issues besides BSL

  •  I was very happy to meet with all of you and look forward to many more meet ups. Addressing the current pitbull frenzy in the metro area I want to share my views. I for one do not own a pitbull and never have, I happen to own a labbie mix and my roommate owns a Catahoula Leopard dog. More dog owners of any breed need to wake up and realize some of the issues that are going on in their cities are not "pit" issues only, and that the media hysteria along with general ignorance could violate their constitutional rights and the rights to own any breed of dog. I want to share this phrase from Ms Tierney of dog fancier magazine, "I think it is unfortunate that so often, government is allowing the most irresponsible members of our society to set the standards by which we all must live. Breed-specific legislation is a classic example of this sad decline in our democracy."

  •  We've made a huge impact in 2006. Looking forward to more members taking leadership positions. Shannon Wells running for Independence City Council is so exciting!
