We host weekly peaceful protests in front of or as near as possible to pet stores throughout the Valley who sell puppies for profit. The purpose of the protests every Saturday morning is to raise awareness by educating the public about the horrors experienced by breeding dogs doomed to live their entire lives in mass dog breeding facilities commonly known as puppy mills and to encourage shelter adoptions. … The Coconino Humane Associations’ newly sheltered rescue animals housed now at Second Chance for Animals, along with their animals (and the evacuated pets of local residents housed there) moved to Fort Tuthill. Over 3,000 calls were taken by CERT (Citizen Emergency Response Team) volunteers within 72 hours by residents looking for information and help. Many residents refused to leave their animals behind.
